is a curated collection of exceptional contemporary fine art and craft
by artists working in Maine today. The Maine perspective offers a point
of view and referrence to the national art and craft culture. All craft
traditions are represented with no line drawn between art and craft,
utilitarian and non-ultilitarian. The gallery is dedicated to
presenting the handcrafted object as work of art. Painting, drawing, and
photography are all part of the mix.
was opened in 2009 by founder and curator, Barbara Michelena. She
has developed close relationships with the gallery artists,
knowledgeably presenting their work in an intimate setting. Eschewing
the traditional style of a formal art gallery, objects are presented in
dialogue with one another to show how they can interact with the
viewer's daily life.
